In my role as Associate Director of the School of Music for Administrative and Student Affairs, my responsibilities include the following: -to assist the Director with various management duties, at his discretion -to participate in strategic planning, assisting the Director in developing and implementing any departmental strategic plans -to participate in formulating and implementing policies and procedures -to supervise day-to-day operations of specific departmental employees -to provide guidance and direction to staff in department -to assist the Director by ensuring that all programs and activities comply with university, state, and federal regulations -to assist the Director by ensuring that all programs, activities, and curricula comply with the guidelines established by the National Association of Schools of Music, our accrediting body -to assist the Director by helping to maintain an inclusive working environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.
Director of Undergraduate Studies, School of Music
As the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the School of Music, I am charged with the following broad tasks:
-to engage students in active learning -to help students develop coherent values and ethical standards -to reinforce high expectations for student learning -to use systematic inquiry to improve student and institutional performance -to use resources effectively to achieve institutional missions and goals -to forge educational partnerships that advance student learning -to serve as a liaison between the College of Arts and Sciences and the students of the School of Music -to maintain awareness and implementation of continually evolving practices and initiatives of the College -to effectively implement academic principles and regulations as established by the College for undergraduate students -to implement and oversee effective student-centered advising practices for the School of Music's diverse student population -to implement recruitment and retention initiatives as recommended by the College of Arts and Sciences -to facilitate an ongoing examination of the quality and range of undergraduate courses in the School of Music, as specified by the guidelines established by the National Association of Schools of Music, and according to the recommendations of the Undergraduate Council and the full faculty
