University Singers Audition Information
2021-2022 Season

University Singers
University Singers is the premier vocal ensemble of the UA School of Music. This advanced choir consists of music majors as well as talented choral enthusiasts from other academic disciplines across the University of Alabama. University Singers performs a wide variety of repertoire, including contemporary works, spirituals, world musics, and masterworks of the historic choral canon.
Audition Requirements
​Those who wish to be considered for University Singers should prepare a short (three minute maximum) memorized vocal solo of any style (classical, musical theater, pop, gospel, jazz, etc.). The solo is to be performed without accompaniment.

Additionally, those auditioning will have an aural skills evaluation focusing on:
  • ability to sing and identify major, minor, and augmented/diminished intervals
  • ability to sing and identify scales (major and all minor modes)
  • ability to recall melodies of various lengths
  • ability to sight read
Audition Request
All auditions for University Singers will take place during your vocal placement appointment. An additional audition time will not be necessary.
