The Flow of Boats
The Flow of Boats is a collaborative work created with filmmaker and choreographer Rebecca Salzer, exploring the uneasy duality of technology as both bridge and barrier. The piece reflects on how our devices can draw us into shared awareness while simultaneously distancing us from the immediacy of global crisis.
In performance, dancers move with cell phones in hand, and the sonic world emerges directly from those devices. Sound is generated not only by the performers’ phones, but also by the audience, who collectively stream a common track through their own mobile speakers. The result is an immersive, distributed soundscape that blurs the line between observer and participant, presence and mediation.
